Founded in 2001 at the San Mateo Medical Center, the Keller Center for Family Violence Intervention is the only facility of its kind in San Mateo County. Before its opening, victims of abuse faced long waits of up to six hours in county hospital emergency rooms and had to navigate multiple agencies, exacerbating their trauma and stress.

The Keller Center consolidates these processes into one compassionate, culturally sensitive location that prioritizes victim rights. As the county’s sole emergency abuse trauma facility, it receives referrals from all local hospitals and law enforcement agencies.
