Healthcare Heroes is an employee-driven committee within the San Mateo County Health Foundation, dedicated to enhancing the daily work experiences of San Mateo Medical Center staff. By leveraging a sustainable, employee-funded financial source, the committee empowers departments to access items or implement programs on their staff wish lists that are not typically covered by traditional county funding.

Thanks to the generosity of our Healthcare Heroes, we’ve been able to:

Equip the hospital with a state-of-the-art CPR training mannequin, enhancing life-saving skills.
Provide massage tools and accessories to help staff relieve body tension during demanding shifts.
Install an ice machine in the breakroom to offer a refreshing amenity not available in the hospital cafeteria.
Establish a college scholarship fund for children of SMMC staff members.
