Applications for Healthcare Heroes

The Healthcare Heroes program provides an array of valuable benefits for SMMC employees. You can apply for grants to support specific needs for staff, request funding for team celebrations, or secure a college scholarship for a student in your family.

Healthcare Heroes Grant
Created to empower departments to fulfill staff “wish list” items or special projects that enhance workplace morale or improve efficiency—especially those not typically funded through standard county budgets.

Before submitting a Healthcare Heroes Grant request, please consult with your department manager to confirm that your proposal is appropriate and not part of an existing SMMC funding request.

HAPPY (Hero Appreciation Party Program Yearly)
The HAPPY initiative provides support for team celebrations, funded by the generous contributions of SMMC employees. Now available to all SMMC departments, HAPPY is designed to foster team spirit and appreciation throughout the organization.

Program Details and Restrictions:

• Each department is eligible for one funded celebration per calendar year.
• Funding is capped at $20 per staff member within the department. The fund does not pay for non-staff attendees.
• Receipts must be submitted before payment is issued and cannot exceed the total amount of the approved grant funding.
  
  

Plan Your Event:

Submit your HAPPY application well in advance. Please allow up to 45 days for processing. Once your application is approved, you will be notified and provided with payment instructions.

Healthcare Heroes College Scholarship Fund
The scholarship offers a one-time $500 gift to a student of a current SMMC staff member. Multiple college or college-bound students within the same family can apply. Each calendar year, 20 scholarships are awarded, totaling up to $10,000 annually from the Healthcare Heroes program fund.
