The first year of a newborn costs over $13,000, presenting significant challenges, particularly for low-income families. 

To support new parents during this crucial period, the San Mateo County Health Foundation, in partnership with San Mateo Medical Center, launched the Bundle of Joy program in 2010. This initiative provides hundreds of baby totes filled with essential items for newborns including diapers, wipes, clothing, blankets, and more. These totes are delivered to clinics across the county, helping mothers prepare for their baby’s homecoming with everything they need.
