The San Mateo County Health Foundation works with the San Mateo Medical Center to provide access to the best possible breast cancer information and diagnostic tools for the underserved residents in San Mateo County.

In 2014, the San Mateo Medical Center made strides with digital mammography, significantly reducing screening wait times. The evolving healthcare landscape now deems 3D imaging the industry standard. With our commitment to cutting-edge care, we are implementing advanced technology to further enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient well-being.

The San Mateo Medical Center strives to close the disparity gap for patients by offering patients the same type of care they would receive at other institutions. Providing patients with early detection utilizing screening mammography, breast ultrasound, biopsies, surgeries, and oncology appointments. 

The San Mateo County Health Foundation will be hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Gala in October 2023. Donations for this event will be used to upgrade two digital mammography machines from 2D to 3D technology.
